A decade ago, I was installing solar PV systems in communities without access to electricity in Nicaragua. I saw first-hand how access to reliable, clean and affordable energy could directly improve people’s lives. This set the trajectory for my career.
For the last five years, my role at software companies in the UK and Europe has revolved around using energy data to improve or reduce energy usage at scale. And even though I’m not watching families flick their lights for the first time, I’m motivated by the belief that with technology and data, we can bring clean, reliable and affordable energy to everyone in the world – faster.
Now that I’ve moved back to Canada, my goal is to use my experience – from working in communities with no power to one of the most advanced energy markets in the world – to accelerate the energy transition in Canada. Especially in my home province, Nova Scotia.
